This week we've been talking with some of our Members who recruit a lot of people about the kinds of roles they find hard to fill.
Scanning down our jobs listing, which has around 700 jobs this week from roughly 140 of our Members, it is clear that many in our High Technology community are finding plenty of opportunity to export. There are a bewildering variety of job descriptions, but some of the most popular titles spring out. Software developers, electronic engineers, testers, marketers, salesmen, product managers, mechanical engineers. The skilled craftsmen who build and supply our high technology products around the world.
Given the concerns with the UK economy, this concentration of job offers seems anomalous. But talking directly to members, they are taking a long time to fill these positions. Skilled roles can take 6 months to 18 months to hire. Historically, we used to have one or two employers paying extra to make a job premium and put it up to the top of the list to get it noticed. Now it is around 10 each week.
Our industries will need to absorb many skilled people who have been employed in the public sector, in the Universities or local government, as central government rebalances the economy towards private enterprise. We're going to be running Cafe Networking jobs fairs - the next in mid September - to help candidates hear directly from the companies who are creating all these new job opportunities about the roles they find hard to fill.
Some of our most active recruiters have already said they'll come along - ARM, CSR, RealVNC, Red Gate, TTP, Velocix among others. We'll hope to see you too - and hear about what you can bring to the growth of the cluster.
I'm interested in such offer,The sound quality in these podcasts is really poor. I feel bad about complaining about something that is free, but I think it is important.

let's join our hands together to stop this kind of wrong doings. It may risk lives in the future if we just let them continue.
