This week was quiet, with many people out of town for Easter. That was lucky, because we are trying to line up local companies that can help with the innovation needs of Finmeccanica, Philips, Procter & Gamble, Samsung, Shell, SSL International, and Unilever, who'll be in town from the 21st-23rd April for pre-arranged meetings and some networking events that make up our Corporate Gateway. It's exciting to run through the full range of cleantech, information and communication technology, healthcare and other applications, especially when looking not just at the 1,400+ companies in our High Technology cluster but also the range of universities and research institutes in the region. In some cases they are seeking commercial partners ready with off-the-shelf solutions, in others they are keen to fund research.
The calm won't last much longer. In the next month we will have events on how the different political parties would support technology entrepreneurship, the academic thinking on low power electronics, nano-sensing for bioinformatics and well-being, home healthcare for long term conditions, solar cells and photovoltaics, and social media and viral marketing. People are attending from 42 Technology, Abcam, AlertMe, Anglia Ruskin, ARM, Cambridge Consultants, Cambridge Design Partnership, Cambridge Temperature Concepts, Cognovo, EmotionAI, Fotoinsight, Grant Instruments, HealthUnlocked, Hidalgo, Hypertag, Iceni Mobile, Illumina, Innomech, Jagex, Linguamatics, Lumie, Marshall, Medical Research Council, NHS East, Nokia, PA Consulting, Patients know best, Philips, Plarion, Plextek, Polysolar, Qualcomm, RedGate, Softwerx, Solar Century, Swiss Precision Devices, Taptu, Thales NCipher, The Mathworks, TTP, UltraSoc, Ubisense, Unilever and University of Cambridge and many other member organizations. These range from the largest employers in the region to start-ups that just posted their first job listing this week having raised angel funding, from academics to native growth companies to major multinationals.
Look forward to seeing you soon too - and hearing how you are springing forward.
is this the energetic programme that`s suppose to boost people on the way up?

I went to Cambridge, but wish I'd made more of it sometimes. I now work for http://www.talksolarpanels.co.uk - I write a blog and I'd love to have the access I used to have to speak to experts in their fields, so I could interview some scientists!
